Updates

How Rectoly tells you about a new version, what happens when an update is required, and where to get it on each system.

Applies to Mendeley and Zotero editions Windows · Mac · iPad Free

When a new version is out

Rectoly checks for a new version when it starts, and again from time to time while you use it.

  1. When one is available, you see A new version is available.
  2. Press Update to get it, or Later to keep working.
  3. After Later, Rectoly doesn't ask again about that version. You can still update whenever you like (see below).

When an update is required

Very occasionally an old version can no longer work with Mendeley, Zotero or Rectoly's server. Then you see Update required, and Rectoly can't be used until you update. Press Update.

  • WindowsQuit closes Rectoly if you want to update later.
  • Your papers, annotations and handwriting stay on the device and are there after the update.

Where to get the update

  • Mac · iPadThe App Store. Updates can also install automatically if you allow it in the App Store settings.
  • WindowsUpdate opens the download page in your browser. Download the new installer and run it; it replaces the old version and keeps your data.

To see which version you have, open Settings › About.

What's new

The What's new page lists the new features of each version, for each edition and system, with links to the pages that explain them.
