Highlights, underlines, sticky notes and handwriting, with a stylus or a finger, right where you are reading. Highlights and notes sync with Mendeley or Zotero, and handwriting on the PDF page can be searched later.

Select, then mark

Long-press a word, drag the handles to widen the selection, and choose Highlight or Underline in the bar above it. The colours are the same eight as in Mendeley and Zotero.

A mark made in Reading Mode is the same annotation as one made on the PDF page. Put the two side by side and it is in both places.

The night before a seminar

Write on the paper you're presenting

Turn Ink ON and write in the margin with your stylus. Turn it off again to use highlights and sticky notes.

On an E Ink tablet

Margins you can write in, like paper

On Boox and other E Ink devices, the same app gives you stylus handwriting and highlights.

If you're left-handed

Settings › Reader › Left-handed controls moves the tool rail to the right and the menus to the left.

The details

Erase with the pen's button: Hold the button on your stylus while you write to erase. Choose what a press of it does under Pen button.
Draw with the stylus only: Turn it on and your finger only scrolls and selects; only the stylus draws or erases.
Eight colours, three thicknesses: The same eight colours as Mendeley and Zotero, and three pen thicknesses for handwriting.
Sticky notes: Use the sticky-note tool, or long-press an empty spot on the page. Insert p.N adds a link to a page inside the note.
Area highlights: Drag a rectangle over a figure, table or equation to highlight it as an area.
Handwriting search: Handwriting on the PDF page is read on the device and becomes searchable. It needs Google Play services, and it is free.
